What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from February 2025. ERO found that children take part in learning with confidence, keep making progress, and mostly reach or exceed expected levels in reading, writing and maths.

ERO found good support for children with additional needs, and those at risk of falling behind are picked up quickly. ERO described clear leadership, teachers who work together and use structured literacy, and close ties with families and the local community. A new principal started in 2024.

ERO noted that, while a large majority of children attend regularly, attendance still falls short of the Ministry’s target. Agreed next steps are to make the language of Ako the Active Learner part of every classroom, keep building teachers’ use of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori, continue embedding structured literacy and checking its impact, review maths teaching, and lift regular attendance.
