What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from May 2025. ERO found results are fair across groups of learners and getting better for most, with achievement rising and a majority reaching the expected level in reading, writing and maths.

Students have a strong sense of belonging, mātauranga Māori runs through the curriculum, learners who need extra help are picked up early, and the school has built lasting, trusting relationships with mana whenua and Māori whānau. Assessment has become more consistent and collaborative since the previous review.

ERO noted that the school had not yet reached the attendance target. The agreed next steps are to sharpen strategic planning and reporting with clear measures that show the effect of its actions on learners, and to widen the strategies it uses to lift regular attendance.

Enrolling

Waverley Park School has an enrolment scheme, so children living in the home zone are entitled to enrol, and proof of address may be asked for. Out-of-zone places depend on in-zone numbers each year. They are offered in a set priority order, starting with siblings of current students, and by ballot when a priority group has more applicants than places.

The school advertises any out-of-zone places for each term on its Facebook page. Enrolment packs are available from the school office, and once a new entrant’s enrolment is confirmed their teacher arranges to meet the child at their early childhood centre before school visits begin.
