What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from March 2026. ERO found good quality teaching that is helping children progress in reading, writing and maths, solid support for learners with complex needs, and te reo and tikanga Māori woven through the curriculum. It noted that a large majority of children arrive at the school well behind the expected level, that maths results have begun to recover after a drop in 2024, and that trusting relationships between staff and children make it easy for them to ask for help.

ERO also found that achievement is not yet equitable across groups, with a large majority meeting expectations in reading but only a small majority in writing and maths, and that planning and conditions for improvement are still being established. Its priorities are to lift achievement in reading, writing and maths, strengthen programmes for children at risk of not achieving, make effective teaching consistent across the school, and improve regular attendance.

Enrolling

Children who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Each year the board decides how many out-of-zone places it expects to have and advertises them by public notice. If there are more applicants than places, a ballot decides who is offered a place.

The school runs cohort entry, so new entrants start in a group on set dates close to their fifth birthday, after a series of transition visits planned with whānau.
