What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from February 2026. ERO found most students have positive learning and wellbeing outcomes.

A large majority of junior students achieve at expected curriculum levels, almost all meet the NCEA literacy and numeracy requirements by the end of Year 11, and NCEA results are equitable for Māori students at Levels 2 and 3 and University Entrance.

ERO noted well-coordinated wellbeing systems, a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, and closer work with Māori and Pacific families. Some groups of junior students still lag behind, and only a small majority of students attend regularly, which is below the government target, though attendance is improving.

ERO’s priorities for the school are consistent, high-quality teaching in every classroom, faster progress in reading, writing and maths for junior students, higher regular attendance, and continued professional learning to strengthen te reo Māori, tikanga and mātauranga Māori in teaching.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places.

Families apply online and upload documents such as a birth certificate. Accepted students and their whānau then have an interview with a senior leader before starting, followed by a New Entrant Day or Options Expo.

Students moving from another New Zealand secondary school are asked to contact the school first, and the school publishes its key enrolment dates on its enrolment page each year.
